Occupational therapists may also assess the home, workplace, or school environment. They can suggest practical adjustments to improve independence and safety. Physical therapists, meanwhile, may develop individualized exercise programs designed to improve mobility and physical performance.

Neither therapy should be viewed as universally better than the other. They serve different purposes and can complement one another.

Understanding occupational therapy vs physical therapy can make it easier for patients and families to ask informed questions about rehabilitation. Both approaches can play an important role in helping individuals regain abilities, adapt to changes, and participate more confidently in daily life.
