Hinjawadi is often described through the language of technology  IT parks, startups, global companies, traffic corridors and thousands of professionals building their careers.

But behind the glass buildings and office campuses is another Hinjawadi.

It is the Hinjawadi where families celebrate birthdays in apartment societies, children grow up with friends from different states, neighbours exchange festival greetings, and people who once arrived here for a job gradually begin calling the neighbourhood home.

As this transformation continues, the need for community spaces becomes increasingly important.

This Sharad season,Oitijhyo Sarbojonin Cultural Association aims to create one such space through its first Sharodiya Durgotsav in Hinjewadi Phase 2, scheduled from 16 to 21 October 2026.

More information is available through the association’s contact page.

A Festival for a Growing Community

The story of Hinjawadi is also a story of migration.

Professionals and families have arrived from West Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and many other parts of India. They bring different languages, traditions, food habits and cultural memories with them.

Durga Puja offers a unique opportunity to bring these different experiences together.

For some, it is a connection to childhood.

For others, it is an introduction to Bengali culture.

And for many families living away from their ancestral homes, it is a few precious days when familiar sounds, flavours, rituals and artistic traditions make a new city feel a little more like home.

Oitijhyo's vision is to transform that feeling of homecoming into a shared neighbourhood experience.

From IT Hub to Community Hub

Hinjewadi's rapid development has changed the character of the region.

What was once primarily associated with Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park has grown into a densely populated residential and commercial ecosystem. Apartment complexes, schools, restaurants, retail spaces and everyday services have expanded alongside the technology sector.

Connectivity initiatives such as Pune Metro Line 3 are also expected to strengthen the area's integration with the wider Pune metropolitan region.

Yet a connected neighbourhood is not automatically a connected community.

Physical infrastructure helps people travel.

Community helps people belong.

That distinction is central to the philosophy behind Oitijhyo.

What Does “Sarbojonin” Really Mean?

The word Sarbojonin carries a simple but powerful meaning: for everyone.

That principle shapes the way Oitijhyo approaches Durga Puja.

The celebration is envisioned not simply as a Bengali religious gathering, but as an open cultural platform where residents can participate regardless of their language, background or age.

Someone may come to experience the traditional Puja.

Someone else may come for the music.

A child may discover Bengali art and storytelling for the first time.

A senior citizen may find familiar company.

Another resident may simply walk in, meet neighbours and become part of something new.

Every form of participation matters.

More Than Puja: Art, Music and Shared Memories

Durga Puja brings together many forms of cultural expression.

The artistry of the idol and pandal, the rhythm of dhaak, dhuno, anjali, traditional food, music, dance and stage performances collectively create an atmosphere that cannot be replicated through a single ritual.

For children growing up outside Bengal, such experiences can become an important connection to heritage.

For adults, they can revive memories of family and community.

For newcomers, they can offer an opportunity to experience something unfamiliar in a welcoming environment.

Oitijhyo hopes to create this intersection of tradition and discovery in Hinjewadi.

Putting Nari Shakti Into Action

One of the distinctive elements of Oitijhyo's broader vision is 51 Nari Shakti.

The initiative seeks to recognise women not simply through symbolic representation, but through meaningful participation.

Women professionals, entrepreneurs, homemakers, educators, students, artists, caregivers and community leaders all contribute differently to society.

Their roles within a cultural association can extend across planning, administration, finance, programming, creative decisions, coordination and execution.

For Oitijhyo, Nari Shakti is therefore about responsibility and leadership.

It is about creating opportunities for women to shape the community rather than simply participate in its events.

A Festival Built by Residents

The strongest community celebrations are not created only by organisers.

They are created by people who volunteer, contribute ideas, teach, perform, decorate, coordinate, welcome guests and help behind the scenes.

Oitijhyo encourages residents to become contributors rather than spectators.

A professional can offer organisational expertise.

A musician can perform.

An artist can help with creative activities.

Parents can help children participate.

Senior citizens can share stories and traditions.

Young residents can contribute technology and communication skills.

Every skill can have a place.

What Comes After Durga Puja?

The larger ambition is not limited to six days in October.

A successful community platform can become a foundation for activities throughout the year — cultural programmes, literature, music, children's learning, social initiatives, environmental activities, health awareness programmes and opportunities for local artists.

In that sense, the 2026 Sharodiya Durgotsav is not only an event.

It is a beginning.

Hinjewadi has already demonstrated how quickly a place can grow economically and physically.

The next chapter can be about social and cultural growth.

Creating a Sense of Home

People may move to Hinjewadi because of a job.

They may stay because of a career.

They may eventually remain because their children grow up here, their friendships deepen and their homes become part of the neighbourhood.

Community is what transforms that journey.

Through its first Sharodiya Durgotsav from 16–21 October 2026, Oitijhyo Sarbojonin Cultural Association hopes to create a space where heritage can be celebrated, new friendships can begin and different communities can meet.

Because a neighbourhood becomes more than a collection of buildings when its people start creating memories together.

And perhaps that is the real spirit of Sarbojonin — not simply celebrating together, but belonging together.
