Healthcare Information System Market Snapshot for Investors and Strategists
The healthcare information system market was valued at USD 773.9 billion in 2025. It is projected to reach USD 2,660.2 billion by 2033, growing at a CAGR of 16.9% from 2026 to 2033, according to Grand View Research. North America leads with a 49.9% share, while Asia Pacific is the fastest-growing region.
Market Overview and Size
The healthcare information system market is expected to grow from USD 773.9 billion in 2025 to an estimated USD 892.8 billion in 2026. That is a one-year jump of roughly 15%, based on our calculation from the published figures. Between 2026 and 2033, the forecast implies the industry will nearly triple, adding about USD 1,767 billion in new annual revenue.
The market is also fragmented. Many country-level players compete, and smaller entrants keep arriving as demand rises for mobile health and for services aimed at ageing populations. Partnership activity is high, innovation is high, and regulatory impact sits at a medium level. In a fragmented field, collaboration is how vendors cover capability gaps. Google Cloud’s November 2025 tie-up with Conifer Health Solutions to embed AI in revenue cycle management is a clear example.
Market Breakdown by Segments
Application: money leads, connected care accelerates. Revenue cycle management (RCM) held 49.8% of the healthcare information system market in 2025. Nearly half of spending goes to billing accuracy, claims automation and cash-flow visibility rather than to bedside tools. Optum’s 2025 expansion of automation-driven claims management reflects this. Social and connected care is expected to grow fastest. It bundles telehealth, remote patient monitoring, population health management, patient engagement software and care coordination, all of which extend care beyond hospital walls.
Deployment: a market in mid-migration. Web-based systems led with a 45.2% share in 2025, but cloud-based deployment is projected to grow fastest. Security breaches in on-premises setups are one reason providers are moving. Seattle Children’s Hospital and Google Cloud launched Pathway Assistant in April 2025. It draws on clinical pathways for more than 70 diagnoses and delivers evidence in seconds instead of the 15 minutes a manual search takes. That case shows why cloud adoption is accelerating.
Component: services dominate now, software grows faster. Services held 38.2% of the market in 2025, which suggests implementation and integration work still absorbs a large share of budgets. Software and systems are forecast to grow fastest as providers choose interoperable platforms that join clinical, administrative and financial workflows.
End use: hospitals lead, imaging centers rise. Hospitals accounted for 57.2% of revenue, helped by the shift from volume-based to value-based care. Diagnostic and imaging centers are expected to grow fastest. They depend on radiology information systems, picture archiving, laboratory systems and structured reporting, and they face rising CT, MRI and molecular testing volumes.

Regional Distribution
North America held 49.9% of the healthcare information system market in 2025, which implies about USD 386 billion by our calculation. The region benefits from high digital literacy, EHR-friendly policy and heavy technology investment. In Q1 2026, for example, virtual-first platform KeyCare raised USD 27.4 million to scale its Epic-based care and AI capabilities. The U.S. is the largest country market.
Europe’s growth is tied to its ageing population and to policy. The EU’s European Health Data Space regulation entered into force in March 2025, creating a common framework for sharing electronic health data across member states. The UK held the largest European share in 2025, and Germany is expected to grow significantly.
Asia Pacific is projected to expand fastest, driven by rising government healthcare spending. In India, the Integrated Health Information Platform supports standards-based EHRs. In July 2025, Delhi expanded its Health Information Management System, linking ABHA IDs across 35+ government hospitals. Japan held a significant share in 2025, and Fujitsu and JMDC announced a collaboration in February 2026.
Brazil led Latin America in 2025. In the Middle East and Africa, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and South Africa are the key growth markets.

Key Market Drivers and Trends
The drivers form a chain. Around 5.8 billion people, nearly 70% of the world’s population, were unique mobile subscribers in 2025 according to GSMA. That connectivity supports telemedicine, mHealth and real-time record access. At the same time, the WHO attributes roughly 74% of global deaths to noncommunicable diseases. That makes continuous remote monitoring a clinical necessity, and monitoring generates the data that feeds AI.
AI is where the healthcare information system market is changing fastest. InterSystems launched IntelliCare in March 2025 as an AI-powered EHR with ambient listening and billing-code prepopulation. Oracle Health brought its Clinical AI Agent to the UK in February 2026 after pilots with NHS Trusts. Regulation shapes all of this. HIPAA-style data protection rules push providers toward systems that can prove compliance, so security is a purchasing criterion alongside features.
Major Industry Players
Epic Systems, Oracle, athenahealth, Veradigm, eClinicalWorks, Meditech, NextGen Healthcare (acquired by Thoma Bravo), Optum, McKesson and TruBridge are among the best-known vendors profiled. GE Healthcare, Philips, Agfa-Gevaert and IBM add imaging and enterprise depth. Innovaccer, Health Catalyst and CompuGroup Medical are also profiled. Their 2025 and 2026 moves show where competition is heading. Veradigm worked with Sentara Health Plans to place care-gap alerts inside EHRs, Medmio integrated with athenahealth, and Agfa expanded its Enterprise Imaging Cloud contracts across U.S. health systems. Vendors increasingly compete on AI features and ecosystem partnerships rather than on core record-keeping.
Outlook
The healthcare information system market rewards vendors that connect financial, clinical and patient-facing data. Buyers should watch cloud migration and the fast-growing connected care and imaging segments, which are expected to outpace the larger established ones.
